Brief Information about Computer Science Faculty

  University of Science and Technology was in Hayatabad, Pakistan during migration. When Afghanistan got freedom from Russia the university was transferred to Hirat province of Afghanistan and after a short span of time it opened a branch in Jalalabad city by the name of ‘Science and Technology’ university which had different faculties, such as ‘Law and political science, Islamic sharia, Economics and Literature’ and at the end of Taliban’s regime the computer science faculty was established. The university was closed until the transitional government then after a short time of the transitional government the university restarted its activities and was supported by Saudi Arabia. Once again it was closed in 2004/5 because the Saudi Arabia stopped the financial aid.

Finally, after a lot of troubles and predicaments it was associated with ‘Nangarhar’ university and all of its students except computer science were placed in different faculties of Nangarhar University. Merely, the computer science students remained free because ‘Nangarhar’ university did not have a computer science faculty at that time.

Then, at that time the chancellor of the university hired those students as teachers who had obtained over 80% marks and a few Pakistani lecturers on contract and started its activities as a department under the conservation of ‘Engineering’ faculty until 2010. It was, then, promoted from a department to a faculty in 2010 with the great struggle of Dr. Mohammad Saber the chancellor of Nangarhar University, Arifulah Mandozai the Dean of ‘Engineering’ faculty Nangarhar University, Engineer Mohammad Yusuf Mohmand the Dean of ‘Computer Science’ faculty and some other teachers.

The Introduction of Computer Science faculty’s teachers

It now has the following three departments.

1-Data Base Department

2- Network Department

3- Software Engineering Department     

The Computer Science faculty currently has approximately four hundred (400) students and it is located behind the Spinghar hotel in Jalalabad city. This faculty has an extensive area in which there is a ground, a playing ground, a computer lab and a library through which the students are benefited.
